Overview of healthy eating principals. Includes diet basics like good carbs/bad carbs, lean proteins and healthy fats. Principals of calories in/out, benefits of eating 5 times per day, water consumption for fat loss and hydration, list of best and worst foods to consume and counting quality, not quantity in foods.
Nutrition Course 2 – The Glycemic Index
Description of the Glycemic index and its role in your daily diet. How high or low
GI carbohydrates affect your body in fat burning or muscle building goals. Also discussed are glycogen levels and insulin response, metabolism and weight management, GI and diabetes management/reversal and GI reducing food strategies.
Nutrition Course 3 – Vitamins and Supplements
Role and importance of vitamins in your body, whole foods vs. vitamin supplements and whole food supplements. The 3 daily necessities:
A multi-vitamin/mineral, anti-oxidants and omega-3 EFA’s. Supplements overview, including protein powders and differences between whey, casein and soy proteins. Also discussed are creatine, fat burners, nitric oxide and performance enhancing supplements and electrolyte replacement beverages. Other vitamins and food supplements are also discussed.
Nutrition Course 4 – Nutrient Timing for Athletes; The Competitive Edge
The three phases of nutrient timing are described in detail: energy, anabolic and growth. Through proper nutrient timing and supplementation, athletes are able to best maximize strength, muscle growth and sports performance by applying these principals. Personalized Nutritional Plan
Customized plan to meet your personal fitness or health goals. Plan includes nutritional assessment, determination of resting metabolic rate (RMR), and REE (individualized calorie requirement), nutrient & supplementation recommendations, “best of” foods list, and sample menus. Health issues are also addressed and appropriate recommendations made.
